In order to receive a low-cost dog or cat spay & neuter voucher:
- You must be a lower income Valencia county resident with income not exceeding 200% of the current federal poverty level guideline. Proof of Valencia residency – a utility bill, lease, or official mail with your name and address. - Completed application (one per pet)
- Clear photo of dog or cat.
Dogs:
- The dog must be from 14 weeks to 4-5 years of age.
- Due to safety reasons, we are unable to do brachycephalic breeds: English Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs and Boston Terriers. Boxers are the exception. We also can’t spay or neuter purebred Rottweilers or Cane Corsos.
- Dogs must be between 3-100 lbs.
- Co-pay: $0-100 based on size, health and the program you qualify for. See details below.
Cats:
- Your cat is at least 2 lbs and not older than 5.
- We do not accept brachycephalic cat breeds like Himalayans.
- Co-pay: $0-100 based on size, health and the program you qualify for. See details below.
- If you have a FERAL cat in Valencia County go to HART NM. And fill out an application there.
Please Read: Most co-pays are $20-40. Copays must be paid prior to the appointment to hold the appointment. If your appointment is free, you will still have to put a $20 refundable deposit down to hold your appointment. The deposit is lost if you cancel less than 24 hours prior to the appointment.
If your pet doesn’t have a microchip or core vaccines, they will get them during the appointment for free. If your pet has had a bad reaction to vaccines in the past, you will need a letter from your vet. If your pet is up to date on vaccines, please email proof of vaccines to spay neuternm@gmail.org
You will hear from us within 72 hours after submitting your application.
We DO NOT cover aftercare! Follow the aftercare instructions in order to prevent more vet bills.
Your voucher is paid for by the Spay-Neuter Coalition of New Mexico or VC SNAP or by HART NM.
